Anti termite treatment is done to foundations and hardcore beds before concrete is cast respectively. The process involves spraying chemicals that deter pests and ants from climbing up to to timber used in construction. This maybe roofing trusses, ceiling brandering, doors or timber framing. This solutions are mostly mixed with water as per the manufacturers instructions. During rainy days avoid the treatment as it could dilute the sprayed mixture.
Cover up the excavations with blinding or the hardcore with the damp proof membranes immediately. This shall keep the chemical fumes intact as recommended. After foundation works are complete spray and back fill the trenches immediately. Most pests or ants will not be able to survive if the above procedures are carried out. Its also important to treat separately any structural timber members like roof trusses or door frames embedded in concrete.
Once anti termite is done the next item to check are nests o termites or ant hills. This should be dug out and destroyed if found within the building perimeter. The distance should be within twenty meters of external building line. All queens should be extracted. Any tunnels or holes impregnated with insecticides. After digging out the area should be back filled with hard materials that are rammed, compacted and well consolidated with a compactor.
